Empowering Recovery: Restoring Body Confidence After Mastectomy & Breast Cancer

About Us

Claire Steele, a multi award-winning Advanced Aesthetics Practitioner and founder of Cheshire Medical Aesthetics, expanded her work into medical tattooing after recognising the emotional and psychological impact that breast cancer treatment can have on patients.

After working in aesthetics and seeing many clients affected by mastectomy and reconstruction, she trained in areola and nipple tattooing to help restore a natural appearance following surgery. This advanced form of tattooing uses specialist techniques (often referred to as 3D areola tattooing) to recreate the look of a nipple and areola, helping patients regain a sense of normality after breast cancer treatment.
Through this work, Claire identified that not all patients are suitable for tattooing alone—particularly those who may not have undergone reconstruction or who want a non-invasive option. This led her to further develop her services into realistic nipple prosthetics, offering bespoke, medical-grade prosthetic nipples that can be applied externally. These provide an alternative or complement to tattooing, giving patients more choice and control over their recovery journey.
At the core of her work is a strong focus on restoring body confidence and emotional wellbeing. For many breast cancer survivors, these treatments are not purely cosmetic—they play a key role in psychological recovery, self-esteem, and identity.
Alongside her clinical work, Claire is actively involved in charitable efforts and fundraising, supporting organisations such as The Christie and Prevent Breast Cancer. Her work combines:

  • Patient-centred care

  • Restorative techniques

  • Advocacy and fundraising

Together, this reflects a holistic approach—helping individuals not only look whole again, but also feel confident and supported after cancer.
